Sci-fi Movies

Often seen as a difficult genre to pull off, and one which rarely graces the oscars, sci-fi movies, when done well have the knack of really lighting up cinema goers imaginations. Great sci-fi films like Alien and Aliens look stunningly impressive to this day, even though the former was made over 30 years ago (and directed by the great Ridley Scott). The Terminator movies are another series of sci-fi films that have stood the test of time, and broken through into the mainstream with sequels being made even now, and a personal favourite of mine is The Thing. Over the last 12 months alone we have seen a resurgence of the sci-fi genre in the form of fantastic flicks like Moon, District 9 and Avatar.
